I served in the Chile Santiago South mission. I loved getting to know the people that I served with. I grew so much love for the people that I was teaching and the members in my areas.
There were a lot of people from other countries there in Chile. I had the opportunity to teach some of them. They were so humble which made them more receptive.
One of my favorite experiences is when I was about five months into the mission. My companion and I went to visit a member to ask for some references when a dog started to chase us. We ran as fast as we could. Right when I turned the corner, the dog stopped. It was amazing to see that little miracle. We then bumped into someone who was from Haiti. He said that he wanted us to pass by and teach him, but he couldn't remember where he lived, so he gave us his number. We called him, but the number didn't work. So we went by the member later again, and the same dog chased us. We then bumped into this guy again, and he said, "I remember where I live!" So we went by his house and he accepted baptism on the first lesson. It was amazing to see that God sees everything, and gets us to where we need to be. He helped me to grow in every transfer to be ready for the next one.
I learned from each one of my companions. And I saw the importance of following the spirit. I love the promise in the scriptures that the spirit will give us the words in the exact moment that we need it. That is why we need to study the word of God, to receive this extra power.
I know that God loves us, and that he will lead us to our divine potential. He is with us in every hardship, and it is how we change and become stronger. And through the sacrifice of his son, we can receive comfort, peace, and hope.
My favorite scripture is Mathew 7: 21. "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." This scripture is the reason of why I wanted to serve a mission.
